I’ve been getting some mail from readers and they seem to have the same theme:

Soups, chilis, hot cocoa and even traditional christmas stuff.

Dueling Recipes?

Anna and I have been playing with the idea of dueling recipes once or twice a week. Taking visitor suggestions or personal preference and then seeing what recipes we can find in our collection to match that theme or ingredient.

We’ve both gotten requests for:

Turkey

Chicken Pot Pie

Ice Creams

Punches And Drink Mixes

More Gifts In A Jar/Mixes In A Jar

We’re going to go ahead and pull a lottery in a while to see which wins out. But first I’m heading up the valley to help Anna with packing for her move, so it might be a while. Or not. Either way.

Ok, so thanksgiving is in a few days for us here in America. I’m sure there’s tons of blogs out there with the standard recipes for the holiday, so I’m going to try to be a little different. I’m going to rifle through my recipes and see if I can’t find some non-traditional spins on turkey, beans, cranberries…..you know, the standards. I have in mind to post several kinds of each thanksgiving “staple” and maybe some more exotic fare.

Hello everyone! Or at least to that one guy in Wallamaru hooking up through a tin can and metal foil.

Anyways, this is where I’m putting my own creations, recipes people have given me to distribute, older open domain favorites, ect.

If you see one up here that is yours and you don’t want it up then just mail me and show me copyright proof and it’ll be down.

Speaking of which, the official US rules on copyright pertaining to recipes:

Mere listings of ingredients as in recipes, formulas, compounds or prescriptions are not subject to copyright protection. However, where a recipe or formula is accompanied by substantial literary expression in the form of an explanation or directions, or when there is a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook, there may be a basis for copyright protection.

Protection under the copyright law (title 17 of the United States Code, section 102) extends only to “original works of authorship” that are fixed in a tangible form (a copy). “Original” means merely that the author produced the work by his own intellectual effort, as distinguished from copying an existing work. Copyright protection may extend to a description, explanation, or illustration, assuming that the requirements of the copyright law are met.”
